Hello & Welcome to SoulSKool Art & Music!
The history of SoulSKool
Sprung from a collabrative idea involving SC (a.k.a. Star Child), a world renouned HipHop music producer, and GNEE, a world renouned Tattoo Artist & Graffiti Writer, SoulSkool was born. The first recording artist to hop aboard and rep the crew (back then) was Bamski The Bigot. Managed by Graffiti Legend SLANG at the time, Bamski dropped his first demo CD entitled Bamski, The Oxegen Thief back in 2000. Shortly thereafter GNEE took on the task of managing the rap group from Englewood The MosHigh. GNEE was already and continued to be involved heavy in the Chicago art scene. In fact, it was his artistic skill that allowed him to barter his talents to attain both music production and studio time for his newly aquired Englewood street rap group. Chicago Southside's respected and loved RecordPlayas crew and DJ team were always happy to ablige, but due to their own involvement in the Chicago HipHop movement both music production and studio time soon became scarse. It was then that GNEE approached GAPE, a fellow Chicago artist on GNEE's SoulSkool Artistic team, with the notion of constructing their own recording studio. At the time GAPE was just beginning to revisit his passions in music and showed huge interests in emceeing and music production. That being said, with the assistance, guidance, and hook-ups from Legendary Chicago HipHop DJ, DJNoble (a.k.a. DJ Nobley Nobe), SoulSkool was quickly on it's way to constructing their own recording studio. And in 2003 SoulSkool Studios was born and for once the SoulSkool recording artists had a place to forever call home.
Around this same time Triple Soul (Triple C at the time) was entering the rap game. Only 16 at the time, TripleSoul's Ace Uno, Honorole, and Gage Lawless showed promise and so joined the SoulSkool Team. Since then SoulSkool Studios has relocated to Berwyn, IL and SoulSkool Musik, by this point a Record Label, has built their roster to also include and work with recording artists Menasi, Kid Shine, J-Dreamin', Mplayment, and Jay-5 to name a few.
On the visual arts side of SoulSkool there is GAPE ONE, GNEE, and MURAL84. All three artists at SoulSkool practice most if not all mediums of art. From oils, to acrylics, bodypainting, and tattooing, to freelance and graffiti art these guys pretty much rock art on anything so be sure to check out the "Art Studio" to see their work and possible add one of their pieces to your personal collection.
